Course Description
IP Telephony Express Deployment teaches the Cisco Call Manager
Express (CME) and Cisco Unity Express (CUE) architecture, components,
functionality and features. Students will also learn Voice over
IP and Quality of Service technologies and apply them to Cisco CME/CUE
environment.
Students are provided the knowledge necessary to plan, design, implement,
and operate Call Manager Express (CME) and Cisco Unity Express (CUE).
The necessary telephony components and devices that make up IP telephony
solutions are discussed. Gateways and route plans are covered in
depth.
Additionally, extensive hands-on laboratory exercises are utilized
to challenge the student to install, configure, and monitor an integrated
CME/CUE voice solution.

Course Objectives
After completing this course the student should be able to:
- Identify the components of the Cisco IPT Express solutions and
technologies
- Provision, plan, and implement a Call Manager Express/Unity
Express environment
- Explain the technical features and functionality available on
Cisco IP telephones in a Call Manager Express environment
- Configure integration CME with other CallManager deployments.
- Enable communication with Cisco Unity voicemail as well as legacy
solutions
- Gain the Knowledge necessary to pass the CallManager Express
Exam (CME 644-141)
Prerequisites
- CCNA or equivalent. A working knowledge of LANs, WANs, and IP
switching and routing is essential
- Knowledge of the hows and whys of the traditional PSTN operations
and technologies
