2-day Hands-on Cisco Authorized Course

Course Description
This training session is a two-day instructor-led technical course that introduces the new Cisco 1500 Series Lightweight Outdoor Mesh Access Point. The course provides a technology overview, design and deployment options, and product configuration with hands on labs.
To participate in the hands-on labs, please bring a laptop computer with an available 32-bit Card-Bus slot and an Ethernet port. The laptop’s operating systems must be either MS Windows 2000 (SP4) or XP. The laptop should also have a 9-pin serial port or USB to serial adapter. IN ADDITION, you will need administrator rights to the laptop to install drivers for the wireless client used in class.
Course Objectives
After completing this course, the student should be able to:
- Describe the components, features, and functionality of the Cisco Aironet mesh networking solution.
- Explain the various deployment options for the Aironet 1500 Lightweight Access Point
- Describe the relevant technical aspects of the Aironet mesh networking solution that effect performance, throughput and distances
Describe physical and technical characteristics of the Aironet 1500 Lightweight Access Point
- Understand the AWPP Mesh protocol
- Describe factors to be considered during outdoor WLAN deployment
- E xplain RF theory as it relates to Wireless LANs
- Understand Wireless Network design issues:
- Coverage areas Antenna theory and operation
- Site Survey procedures
- Describe the steps performed during the installation and deployment of outdoor Wireless LANs
- Become familiar with troubleshooting and debug of a mesh deployment
- Learn methods for testing throughput before turning up the mesh
- Discuss deployment planning and guidelines based on our experience
- Understand real world issues based on experience gained during our early deployments
Intended Audience
The Cisco Aironet Mesh Networking course is designed for Cisco Wireless Specialized Partners with experience in outdoor RF environments, data networking, WLAN topologies and Radio Frequency technologies. This technical training is designed for individuals who are responsible for planning, implementing or supporting customer Wireless LAN Networks.
